About Muhammad Sajawal Ali, M.D., M.S.
As an interventional pulmonologist, I specialize in minimally invasive techniques for diagnosing and treating a variety of pulmonary and pleural disorders. I helped start the robotic bronchoscopy program at NewYork-Presbyterian/ Â鶹¸ßÇå. I am privileged to work with an exceptional team that has already made it one of the leading programs in the country. Robotic bronchoscopy has significantly improved the diagnostic yield and safety profile of lung biopsies.
I work as part of a multi-disciplinary team comprised of thoracic surgeons, pulmonologists, oncologists, and radiologists. This facilitates making comprehensive treatment plans for patients with benign and malignant chest diseases. I take great pride in empowering my patients to actively engage in informed decision-making at all steps. Recent innovations in interventional pulmonology have made it possible to have more than one way to deal with complex clinical scenarios. Therefore, now it’s more important than ever to engage our patients and their loved ones so that we can devise plans that best fit patient preferences and values. My research is focused on studying the performance parameters of bronchoscopic and pleural procedures, to inform future innovations.
